Temple of Boom

Location: Simplonbaan/Oeral (Lunetten)
Artist: Rob Birza

The 'Temple of Boom' by artist Rob Birza looms up in the Lunetten district like an enormous signpost guiding the way. The pedestal resembles a stepped Inca temple, while the four-metre-high sphere on top looks like a mushroom. At night, the mushroom is softly lit from within, like a giant nightlight that reassures lost visitors and residents. The 'Boom' refers to the echoing acoustics inside the sphere. Since entering this work of art is prohibited, we will just have to take the artist's word for it. But as a visual surprise, this mushroom is certainly not to be dismissed.
