Last February, CNN announced that Utrecht was the Netherlands’ most bike-friendly city and one of the world’s best cities for getting around by bike. Earlier this year, the Spanish edition of National Geographic also named Utrecht the world’s top destination for cycling holidays.

With more than 12,500 parking spots, the world’s largest bicycle parking facility is located under Utrecht’s central railway station. Open 24/7 and the first 24 hours are free of charge. Tip: take a photo of the rack number, so you don’t forget where you parked your bike!

The world’s longest rainbow cycle path – a Utrecht University, Utrecht University of Applied Sciences and University Medical Centre Utrecht initiative – can be found in Utrecht Science Park. It aims to help create acceptance, equality and safety for the LHBTIQ+ community.
