Looking for a fun weekend outing this summer? Discover second-hand treasures, local products, and fresh flowers at one of Utrecht’s vibrant markets. Meet local farmers and growers, and enjoy the lively atmosphere in the sunshine. We’ve listed four great markets for you!

1. Fabric & Flower Market

Did you know Utrecht’s fabric market is the largest and oldest textile market in the Netherlands? It’s been around since 1597! Today, it’s a weekly event with dozens of stalls offering unique fabrics and haberdashery. Just around the corner, you’ll find the flower market—perfect for plant lovers and flower enthusiasts.

🕗 Every Saturday
📍 Fabric Market: Breedstraat, 08:00–13:00
📍 Flower Market: Janskerkhof, 08:00–17:00

2. Second Chance Market – De Betonnerie

Every last Sunday of the month, head to De Betonnerie, Utrecht’s go-to second-hand market. Besides scoring or selling beautiful items, you’ll enjoy great music, tasty food and drinks provided by creative local entrepreneurs. There’s also a side program that shows how easy (and fun!) it is to live more sustainably—think repair cafés and DIY bike workshops.

🗓️ Dates: July 21, August 18, September 29, October 27 & November 24

3. Organic Farmers’ Market

Curious about the story behind your cheese? Love cooking with honest, seasonal, and local ingredients? Every Friday, the Organic Farmers’ Market at Vredenburgplein offers fresh produce straight from the farm. From vegetables, fruit, and fresh bread to cheeses, delicacies, meat, and sustainably caught fish—everything is fresh and organic.

🕙 Every Friday, 10:00–18:00
📍 Vredenburgplein

4. Vredenburg Market

This lively market in the heart of the city is open three times a week. You’ll find fresh fish, meat, syrup waffles, fruits, vegetables, and other delicious foods.

🕙 Every Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday, 10:00–17:00
📍 Vredenburgplein
