Utrecht University Museum

UMU, the University Museum Utrecht, is the research museum of the Netherlands: a family museum for anyone who is curious!

We strive to be the Netherlands’ foremost research museum: a family museum where visitors can actively familiarise themselves with the scientific research conducted at Utrecht University in the past and present. A place that inspires you to ask questions about yourself and the world around you and where you, as a visitor, can become a researcher yourself.

Dive into the world of science. From the human body to the animal world and from the earth to social questions, many topics are discussed. With each theme you will start researching and experimenting. At UMU you will become a researcher! Every weekend and during school holidays special activities are organised for children between 8 and 14 years old.

Opening hours
The museum and the Oude Hortus are open from Tuesday to Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The museum café and museum shop are open until 5.30 pm.
During the school holidays (with the exception of the summer holidays) the museum is also open on Mondays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Closed on 1st of January, 27th of April and 25th of December.
