New hotspots

If there’s one thing Utrecht can’t get enough of, it’s new spots to treat your taste buds. Over the past few months, a bunch of great hotspots have popped up. Ready to update your foodie list?

Union House

Union House now occupies the site where the old Tivoli once stood. It is a restaurant with the former monastery garden transformed into a courtyard garden and a wine bar overlooking the iconic stage where Prince, Pearl Jam, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers, among others, have performed. Enjoy the tasty dishes prepared daily with local products.

En public

New in Utrecht, right in the middle of Griftpark: En Public. A cozy restobar in Utrecht East, where you can enjoy a delicious meal, a great glass of wine, or a cocktail at the bar. Their menu is seasonal, with European influences and plenty of room for creativity.

Kembar

At the new Indonesian bistro on Janskerhof, you’ll find Indonesian classics for both lunch and dinner, all served in one of Utrecht’s oldest buildings.

Maresia

In July, Maresia opened its doors on Ganzenmarkt: a Mediterranean seafood restaurant that’s about more than just wine and shellfish — it’s about being together. A table full of delights, glasses filled, and an evening that unfolds naturally.

Bar Barak

In early July, Bar Barak opened its doors on the grounds of the former Pieter Baan Centre. Behind the old bars now lies the playground of this warm, cozy restaurant with an open fire. No fuss, just surprising flavor combinations.

Nomono

Nomono is a place where everyone is welcome — soon six days a week — for good music, lunch, great wines and beers, events, dinner, listening sessions, and everything in between. What to expect? Tasty lunches and dinners made with pure, honest, locally sourced ingredients, with modern cuisine and comfort food as the foundation of flavor. All of this combined with a space where a high-quality sound system and plenty of music are at the heart of everything they do.

Léo Léo

For a moment, imagine yourself in France at this charming French bistro with a boutique hotel. Located on the city’s oldest shopping street, the Twijnstraat, it’s the perfect spot to treat yourself to a delightful breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Oui, cést parfait!

Twijnstraat 58

Paloma

All around you, the colors, scents, and flavors of Spain awaken your senses: at Paloma, you can enjoy homemade tapas and the sounds of live music that transport you straight to the heart of indulgent Spain.

Mariaplaats 11

Rooie Nel

Think of an eclectic interior in a beautiful historic building, a wine list that blends classics with natural wines, and French dishes given the occasional twist. But above all, you’ll find warm hospitality, great service, and seriously good food — with plenty of butter involved.

Jagerskade 13

Pizza Beppe

A true Utrecht classic: the pizzas from Pizza Beppe. Recently, they opened their fifth location in the city — complete with a huge terrace on Janskerhof.

Takumi Ramen

Irasshaimase! Takumi Ramen, the popular Japanese ramen chain, has expanded its presence in Utrecht with two new locations, each with its own specialty and vibe. At Takumi Vredenburg, the focus is on Tonkotsu ramen — a rich, creamy pork broth beloved by ramen fans. The second location on the Oudegracht specializes in Chicken & Veggie ramen.
