In December, Slot Zuylen is transformed into an enchanting Christmas setting. An impressive Christmas tree sparkles in the courtyard, and inside the castle you can admire beautifully decorated rooms, festive fireplaces, and elegantly trimmed Christmas trees. Stroll through the halls at your leisure and discover how the castle’s former residents celebrated Christmas.

For the Van Tuyll van Serooskerken family, who once lived in the castle, the dining room was the heart of the holiday season. Each Sunday during Advent, a new candle was lit in the baroness’s handmade wreath of deep green fir branches. Once all four candles were burning, the Christmas festivities could truly begin! By the crackling fireplace they read from the Bible, sang Christmas carols accompanied by the harmonium, and enjoyed one another’s company.

After your visit, you can relax in the cosy coach house with a warm cup of coffee or tea and a slice of homemade cake — the perfect end to your wintry castle visit.

Slot Zuylen will be open extra days during the Christmas holidays! The castle is open on 22, 23, 24, 27, 28, 29 & 30 December.
Closed on Christmas Day & Boxing Day (25 & 26 December) and on New Year’s Eve & New Year’s Day (31 December & 1 January).
