Lights of Saint Peter’s Church

Title: Astonished by light
Artist: Vos, Smits & Visser

The dynamic history of the city is plainly obvious from looking at the Pieterskerk (Saint Peter’s Church), just as looking at the Saint John’s Church. That is, if one knows where to look. The light designers of Grontmij highlight this, using a variety of illuminations. These lights entice you to explore the different layers of this Romanesque church, founded in the 11th century. In the seclusion of Pieterskerkhof, it’s easy to momentarily lose sense of time, and imagine oneself in the past.

The design team of the Pieterskerk is made up of Robert Jan Vos, Koen Smits and Rienk Visser. Together, they share more than 50 years of experience in designing critically acclaimed illumination projects.
